Disclaimer: I am in need of the following affirmation. Don’t mind me, as I rattle off a little reminder to myself.
Loving ourselves as we are does not mean that we stop trying to be the best version of ourselves. Loving ourselves now means that we TRY to be our best selves, while showing gratitude for what we have and what we are.
Somebody that loves us created us! To Him, our Heavenly Father, we are each masterpieces! Right NOW we can be grateful that He created us. We can be grateful that we have two arms and two legs, and that we can experience this beautiful thing called life! We can be grateful that we live in a place and an age where we have access to amazing opportunities and experiences! We can EVEN be grateful for the imperfections and trials that we have, because it is those imperfections and those trials that help us learn and grow. It is those imperfections and those trials that are shaping and molding us in to the people that our Heavenly Father wants us to be!
No, we shouldn’t just give up and accept our fate. We can’t hide in a hole and complain that this is as good as it gets! We still need to work every day to become the very best that we can! But we’ve got to find joy in the journey. We’ve got love love ourselves at every point along the way. That is the only way!
